Do you ever feel overwhelmed in life? Think about our family schedules, running kids around to countless activities. Think about our finances, which are constantly stretched to the limit. Our work lives are increasingly demanding, with fewer workers and more responsibilities; and then our responsibility as Christ-followers, which means we are part of a small group and serve in the church and serve our community. We find ourselves constantly stressed out. Words like "joy," "rest" and "peace" sound so foreign. We act like we have no choice but to live at this overwhelming pace because our whole culture is running at this pace. But we actually do have a choice. This choice is one that the Bible says a lot about, because it radically impacts our lives in a negative way when we act like we are powerless to make this choice. The choice is margin. What is margin? Margin is the space between my load and my limits. It is like a rubber band. If two people were to stretch a rubber band out between them, eventually the load will exceed the limit and it will break. Margin is the intentional choice to not live right up to the limits, but to give space in our calendar, in our finances, in our relationships, and in our emotional lives. Imagine how your life would change if you had space for depth in relationships, energy because you are recharged and refreshed, and money left over at the end of the month. During this study, let’s talk about how to make room for the things that matter most.
